Eating Out While on a Low Carb Diet Meal Plan
January 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Low Carb Foods | No Comments »So, you have finally resolved to go on a low carb diet meal plan, and suddenly you get a call from your friends inviting you out to lunch or dinner. You really want to go and have a great time with them but you also think about your diet. You start thinking that if you eat out you will be forced to break away from your diet because restaurants just do not have the type of meal that your diet requires. Well, think again. You have already decided to go on a diet and consequently, you most probably have already researched about the types of food that you can have. The solution to your eating out problem is then simple. Just make the right food choices.
What exactly are the right food choices, you might ask. Well, once you are in a restaurant and you take a glance at the menu, you will inevitably find foods that are just plain fattening. You have the desserts, the cheeseburgers, steak sandwiches, etc. But these days, there are actually several restaurants that have a special menu for people on diets, most especially those who are on a low carb diet. They offer skinless chicken breast, vegetable salads with low fat dressing, and many others that cater mostly to people on a low carb diet. This way, you can stick to your diet while hanging out and enjoying with your friends. You do not have to isolate yourself from your friends anymore just because you cannot eat what they will be eating.
At this point, you might be wondering, what if the restaurant does not have a special menu for dieting people? As mentioned, it is still all about making the right food choices. Make do with what is around. If the restaurant does not serve diet meals, get a chicken or tuna sandwich on wheat bread; or if they do not serve wheat bread, just take the bread out, get a salad and tell them to do away with the croutons. Give your waiter specific instructions on how to prepare the food that you ordered. Restaurants are usually very open to serving your food according to your preference. You must always have the determination to stick to your diet, so be prepared to be flexible in adjusting to a new lifestyle.
If you are strong and have enough willpower, you can actually still eat out and spend time with your friends while trying to lose weight. Being on a low carb diet meal plan does not have to mean boring and lonely dieting.
