So, you have finally resolved to go on a low carb diet meal plan, and suddenly you get a call from your friends inviting you out to lunch or dinner. You really want to go and have a great time with them but you also think about your diet. You start thinking that if you eat out you will be forced to break away from your diet because restaurants just do not have the type of meal that your diet requires. Well, think again. You have already decided to go on a diet and consequently, you most probably have already researched about the types of food that you can have. The solution to your eating out problem is then simple. Just make the right food choices.

What exactly are the right food choices, you might ask. Well, once you are in a restaurant and you take a glance at the menu, you will inevitably find foods that are just plain fattening. You have the desserts, the cheeseburgers, steak sandwiches, etc. But these days, there are actually several restaurants that have a special menu for people on diets, most especially those who are on a low carb diet. They offer skinless chicken breast, vegetable salads with low fat dressing, and many others that cater mostly to people on a low carb diet. This way, you can stick to your diet while hanging out and enjoying with your friends. You do not have to isolate yourself from your friends anymore just because you cannot eat what they will be eating.

At this point, you might be wondering, what if the restaurant does not have a special menu for dieting people? As mentioned, it is still all about making the right food choices. Make do with what is around. If the restaurant does not serve diet meals, get a chicken or tuna sandwich on wheat bread; or if they do not serve wheat bread, just take the bread out, get a salad and tell them to do away with the croutons. Give your waiter specific instructions on how to prepare the food that you ordered. Restaurants are usually very open to serving your food according to your preference. You must always have the determination to stick to your diet, so be prepared to be flexible in adjusting to a new lifestyle.

If you are strong and have enough willpower, you can actually still eat out and spend time with your friends while trying to lose weight. Being on a low carb diet meal plan does not have to mean boring and lonely dieting.

A fast way to burn fat is by knowing what food to eat on low carb diet. These diets are not like the usual diets that promise you weight loss fast. You have to let this work into your system by educating your body to respond to your intake and burning. A low carb diet works by taking in more protein so that the body will burn fat. By reducing the intake of carbohydrates, fat buildup is stopped. Try to research for foods that are rich in protein and low in carbohydrates; build a list so that the next time you feel creative enough to make a dish, you know what food you can use.

Basically, you can use all meats to make your dishes, except liver. If you intend to use breading or fillers to your food, try to read the labels very well and see if it contains the appropriate levels of nutrients you can use. This is a common mistake when using canned meat or some particular seafood.

A rich and easily accessible source of protein is eggs; aside from being cheap they are also a very versatile ingredient which you could use in cooking. The best way to prepare them though would be poaching or boiling them. This way you avoid using oil that is rich in fats and carbohydrates.

Vegetables that have low starch levels are another good source of protein. Remember that starch leads to the production of fat if not consumed readily by the body. These include carrots, potatoes, corn, and peas as some examples. These foods are not bad. They are very healthy except that they are just full of carbohydrates. So these are just some that we have to avoid in this diet.

Most fruits are great sources also, but try to avoid bananas, citrus fruits, watermelon, and pineapple. These are high glycemic fruits, which are rich in carbohydrates and produce glucose.

You can browse the Internet for more information about these kinds of diets. If you have the time, a visit to your nutritionist would be good. He or she can explain what particular food are good sources of protein and lesser sources of carbohydrates. The effect of certain food may also vary on the person’s biological make-up. So, a trained professional will be of much help. They will guide you on what food to eat on low carb diet to keep you healthy and fit.
